Digital SAT Test Day
By the Cheetah Prep team
Test day runs more smoothly when you know the shape of it. The digital SAT changed a few logistics, mostly around the device and the app. Here is what to expect.
What to Bring
Bring your own laptop or tablet with Bluebook installed and fully charged, your admission ticket, an acceptable photo ID, and a pencil for scratch work on the paper you are given. A charger is smart, since not every room has enough outlets. An approved calculator is optional, because Desmos is built in, but many students bring a familiar handheld one anyway.
If you do not have a device, you can request to borrow one from College Board ahead of time. Do not count on borrowing one at the door. Arrange it in advance through your College Board account.
How the Day Runs
You check in, get seated, and open Bluebook to start. The test is 2 hours and 14 minutes of work with one 10 minute break between the two sections. Your answers save as you go, so a dropped connection or a dead battery does not erase your progress. You pick up where you left off once you are back online.
Scores come back fast, usually within about two weeks, and they arrive in your College Board account rather than by mail. That is quicker than the paper era, which is one of the quieter upsides of the switch.
